First TV debate in the UK

Here are some topics they debated

immigration
law and order
MP corruption

My group thought Nick Clegg won the debate because his party offers something new - a change. This is a clear evidence that TV debates can change a campaign. It can make or break a candidate in one single night.

February 24th the house of commons gathered for question time. Its when the Prime Minister is being questioned by the Government. Some of the topics that was brought to light during this Question Time was discussion about taxes. Will the prime minister increase or decrease them? I think this is an exciting topic. Someone in the discussion wondered if the taxation would be something like what Robin Hood did. That the rich people in the country will pay more taxes compared to people with not that much money.

At 12.33 pm the prime minister comes with a statement. He explains the child migration in the UK back in the days. How Britain deported many children to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The children were lied to, some were told their parents were dead. They even changed the children's date of birth so that it would be impossible for the parents to find them.

During the whole question time the Prime Minister behaved calm an secure. Compared to the other speakers he spoke with a clear voice, and he answered the question very well.

Senior project

In my senior project I'm going to write about 9/11, and how it affected the Americans in the time after the attack. How did the people react and what did the government do to try to prevent such terrorist attacks.

The winner takes all

In the UK, when they have an election, the candidate with the most votes wins everything. The other candidates can go home and live on with their normal lives and the votes people have used on these candidates are wasted. This is very different from Norway, where not only the party with the most votes is in government but also the parties that have a sertain amount of votes.

The weather!

The weather in Norway is really unpredictable. We have our four seasons: winter, spring, summer and fall. In the winter it's really cold and we often have a lot of snow - specially on the mountains, but it also can be really cold and wet. In the spring it gets warmer, but the weather is probably most unpredictable in the spring. It can be warm one day, and snow the next (almost).
I think the summers in Norway can be the best. If the weather is good all summer, there's no better place to be. Not too warm and not too cold. But the last summers have been really bad with a lot of rain.
And rain we have enough of in Norway you ask me. In the fall it often rains and rains and rains and it's only getting darker and darker. And it's so cold. The only time I think the fall is beautiful is when it's almost to the freezing point and sunny. Then I can live with it..

NATO (1949)

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was established in 1949. NATO has members from 28 countries in Europe and North-America.
The Treaty of Brussels in 1948 is considered the precursor to the NATO agreement. The treaty and the Berlin Blockade was the reason for the establishing of the Western union's Defence Organization. But the participation of the United States was thought necessary in order to counter the military power of the USSR, and therefore they started talking about a new military alliance almost immediately and resulted in the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO).
It included 12 countries from Europe and North America. It was established because of fear of the Soviet and the communist's growing power in Europe

"The Parties of NATO agreed that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all. Consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence will assist the Party or Parties being attacked, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area."

The countries that founded NATO

• Belgium
• Canada
• Denmark
• France
• Iceland
• Italy
• Luxemburg
• Netherland/Holland
• Norway
• Portugal
• Great Britain
• USA
